This page lists every cookie and every piece of browser storage the Operator uses in WheelDeal, what each one is for, and how long it lasts. It is generated directly from the app's own code, so it cannot fall out of date with what the app actually does.

Only the first group is set without asking you. Nothing in the Preferences, Analytics or Advertising groups is stored until you say yes, and turning a group off deletes what is already stored in it on this device. You can change your mind at any time - the button below reopens the same panel you saw when you first arrived, and the link in the footer of the app does the same.

Analytics

Off until you allow it

A record of which screens you reach and where a search stalls, so the parts that quietly fail can be found and fixed. It is never sold and never used to advertise to you.

Off: nothing about how you use the app is recorded, on this device or on our servers.

    A random id with no name, email or number in it, so the screens you visit in one session can be counted as one session rather than as strangers. Set only if you turn Analytics on, deleted the moment you turn it off.

Advertising

Off until you allow it

Google AdSense, which pays for the free plan. Turning this on loads Google's script, which sets its own cookies under Google's rules.

Off: Google's ad script is never loaded, and you see no ads.

    Set by Google AdSense to choose and cap the ads shown on the free plan, and to detect ad fraud. WheelDeal does not load Google's ad script at all unless you turn this on, and paid plans never show ads.

Nothing else. The server accepts these events and silently drops anything else, so this list is not a summary - it is the filter itself.

  • screen_view - A screen was opened
  • search_started - A search for nearby rental shops was started
  • search_results - Search results were shown
  • outreach_started - Agents were asked to contact shops
  • offer_opened - A negotiated offer was opened
  • booking_opened - The booking sheet was opened
  • upgrade_viewed - The plan comparison was viewed

Each record carries the screen you were on with the address stripped down to its shape (a search term, a hotel name or a booking reference is removed before anything is stored), the time, and the random id above. It is kept with the rest of your account data, it is included in the copy you can download from Profile, and deleting your account deletes it.

Turning things off elsewhere

Your browser can block or delete cookies for any site, including this one - the Preferences and Analytics groups above are all first-party, so clearing site data removes them. Advertising cookies belong to Google and are set on Google's own domains, which is why WheelDeal cannot delete them for you; what it can do, and does, is never load Google's script in the first place unless you allow it.
